Psalm 51:10 (CEB)
“Create a clean heart for me, God;
put a new, faithful spirit deep inside me!”
We’ve become use to incomplete things.
I have a stack of unfinished books in my office. If I grow tired of a television series, I abandon it. The trim in my house was never painted, because it looks “good enough.” I think I’ve grown accustomed to “almost done” in my life.
I think many of us experience this. Our lives are so bombarded by stuff that when one thing is “almost done” we move onto the next thing.
We do this in our relationship with God as well. We start a devotional series, but never finish. We say we are going to pray for 30 minutes a day, every day, but abandon it at some point. As people we are “almost done” and that seems to be good enough for us.
To be WHOLE is something we really have a hard time understanding. We’ve spent most our lives being “almost whole.” There always seems to be something in our lives that’s broken. Whether it be a relationship, an attitude, or behavior. To ascertain completely wholeness seems to be a fantasy. And through YOUR POWER it is a fantasy, but God can “create a clean heart” in you and renew your spirit.
The beauty of Shalom is that God, through His Holy Spirit, is inviting you to be healed, to find rest, and to find wholeness. Imagine feeling complete. Oh, it doesn’t mean I’ve arrived, but it does mean that Christ is creating something new in my life.
- Pastor Philip
- What are the areas of your life that are “almost done”?
- What would it mean for you to have a “clean heart” and a “new faithful spirit”?
- Pray that God will make your heart whole and new in Him.
